Giornata Internazionale per l’eliminazione della violenza sulle donne
PER RENDERE POSSIBILE L’UMANITÀ

Due settimane fa una mia paziente della Guinea, 20 anni, mi chiese le analisi per il gruppo sanguigno e le malattie a trasmissione sessuale perché aveva avuto molti rapporti.
“Come mai ?” Chiesi preoccupata.
“Perché in Libia sono stata violentata molte volte” mi rispose.
Non avvertii odio nella sua voce.
Oggi mi porta i risultati, la busta ancora chiusa.
Li guardiamo insieme:”Tutto negativo, tutto bene, stai tranquilla” le dico nel mio inglese stentato.
Un sorriso meraviglioso che mi sembra abbracciare tutto il mondo, le illumina il viso e in un inglese fluente mi risponde “Sono felice domani posso andare in ospedale per donare il sangue”.
Prego tutti coloro che leggono questo piccolo racconto di raccontarlo a loro volta, nelle case, nelle chiese, nelle scuole, nelle fabbriche, negli ospedali.
Per rendere possibile l’umanità.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
TO MAKE HUMANITY POSSIBLE

Two weeks ago, a 20-year-old patient of mine from Guinea asked me for tests for blood type and sexually transmitted diseases because she had had many intercourse.
“How come ?” I asked worriedly.
“Because in Libya I was raped many times” she replied.
I didn’t hear any hatred in her voice.
Today she brings me the results, the envelope still closed.
We look at them together: “Everything is negative, everything is fine, don’t worry” I tell her in my broken English.
A wonderful smile that seems to embrace the whole world lights up her face and in fluent English she replies “I’m happy tomorrow I can go to the hospital to donate blood”.
I ask all those who read this little story to tell it themselves, in homes, in churches, in schools, in factories, in hospitals.
To make humanity possible. A thousand thanks.
